WILDERNESS FIRST AID
TrollAktiv deliver internationally recognised scenario based wilderness first aid courses.
Our courses are based on training for incidents that can happen to anyone at anytime whilst taking part in an activity. These courses are the international standard for anyone employed or working in an outdoor environment. Ideal for Teachers, Guides, Instructors or anyone else that may find themselves leading groups in an outdoor environment. The course deals with medical emergencies as well as responding to accidents.
Wilderness First Aid- WFAW : 8 hours (1 day)
This workshop focus’ on good basic life support techniques as well as environmental issues that arise in the wilderness. The class is mostly hands-on skills with the use of scenarios and labs.
Examples of some of the skills learned and practised are: CPR, Bleeding, heat and cold issues, near drowning, allergies, asthma and other common medical problems.
This course includes CPR certification and meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for most CPR/First Aid training needs.
Wilderness First Aid- WFA : 16-24 hours (2-3 days)
This course focus’ on good basic life support techniques as well as environmental issues that arise in the wilderness. The class is mostly hands-on skills with the use of scenarios and labs.
Examples of some of the skills learned and practised are: improvised splinting, wound cleaning, spine injury assessment and clearing protocols, heat and cold issues, near drowning, allergies, asthma and other common medical problems.
This course includes CPR certification and meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for most CPR/First Aid training needs.
Wilderness Advanced First Aid-WAFA : 45 hours (5 days)
This course is designed for outdoor professionals who guide multi-day trips or work in remote areas. It is similar to our WFA program with more time spent on scenarios and labs.
WAFA students leave with a solid understanding of wilderness medicine and feel much more confident in their skills at the end of the course.
This course includes CPR certification and meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for most CPR/First Aid training needs.
