About TrollAktiv

  • TrollAktiv Drift AS was established in 1994.  The company was originally named Troll Mountain AS and in the early years provided guided ski trips for British groups in Norway and the Alps.  In the summer months rafting, rock climbing and safari trips were popular with tourists and school groups.  In 1997 Troll Mountain purchased a run down farm building close to the river.   The building was in a perfect location for the rafting operation, located right beside the river Otra at Syrtveit, 7 km north of the town of Evje.

During the following years the building was totally refurbished and a modern outdoor centre grew around it. In 2005 due to the growing influence of the internet Troll Mountain succesfully rebranded to TrollAktiv. Over the following years TrollAktiv has annually re-invested, developing the centre into a modern outdoor education facility with all the essentials for guests to sleep, eat and challenge the rivers and mountains of the lower Setesdal valley.

Summer activities have grown considerably in volume and today TrollAktiv can boast the largest rafting operation in Norway with a fleet of 16 rafts and over 10 000 annual rafting guests.

In 2014 TrollAktiv celebrated 20 years in business.  In recent years TrollAktiv has succesfully built and owned a High wire adventure park and and also built a Mountain bike park in the forest beside the centre.  Each year TrollAktiv improves the activity portfolio and guest accommodation.
